Classes at South Coast Fencing Center
We’ve been teaching martial arts to children and teens since 2008 at schools, special events, and through introductory series classes at Parks and Recreation programs. In 2019, we started our Youth Program at South Coast Fencing Center.
Martial Arts, History, and Discipline.
Kids ages 7 and up are eligible for our regular Youth Program classes, which introduce students to the history, theory, and practice of Historical European Martial Arts. Special programs may also be arranged for younger groups. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information and to RSVP for Sunday kids’ classes.
Teens with advanced skills or maturity may receive instructor permission to train in the adult program. Eventually, we will also be splitting the Youth Program into separate classes (ages 7-12, and teens). If you’re not available during current class times but are interested in the program, please email us. We look forward to working with you to find a class that’s the best fit!
Safety is always our first priority. Youth Program classes mainly use synthetic (plastic) weapons, with any use of blunt steel swords closely supervised. All sparring takes place with proper protective gear. Students may only spar with instructors until they are certified to spar each other with supervision.
